Advanced Chiropractic Techniques

Patients receiving advanced chiropractic care will typically present with >5/10 pain, possible antalgic lean or difficulty turning head, problems with mobility, spasms, and/or radiation of symptoms into the arms or legs. They may also have a history of similar problems or previous diagnosis of sciatica or degenerative disc/joint disease. These patients are typically seen for 20-30 minutes and will receive manual traction, manual stretching, and chiropractic adjustments. (see below)

Long-Axis Decompressive TRaction (Flexion-Distraction therapy)

This techniques is used to decompress or create a negative pressure to hydrate the degenerative area of concern. This is a must have therapy for frequent to intermittent sciatica and low back pain.

Manual Stretching (Neck and/or Low Back)

These stretches are done to increase mobility, decrease pain and tightness, and facilitate a longer-lasting adjustment. “If you are wrapped in tightness around your problem area and we get it moving, it won’t last unless we get those muscles loosened up real quick,” states Dorey

Chiropractic Full-Spinal and/or Extra-Spinal manipulations

Dr. Dorey utilizes a variety of new and old chiropractic and physical therapy techniques.

General Chiropractic

Chiropractic Spinal and Extra-Spinal Manipulations

Patients receiving general chiropractic care are typically seeking a hands-on, full-spine manipulation- aka “old-school chiropractic care.” These patients usually need an adjustment only because they do not display signs of degenerative disc or joint disease.

General chiropractic patients usually just need an adjustment 1-2 per month, their pain usually does not exceed 3/10, and their visit may last 5-10 minutes.

Pediatric Chiropractic

Pediatric Low Back Adjustment

This is a side-posture, low back adjustment directed towards the lumbosacral joints to establish mobility. A scoliosis will usually begin here due to leg length discrepancies.

Pediatric Neck Adjustment

Whether it’s “tech-neck”, “text neck” or just a habitual self-adjuster- we got your back…and neck. This may be the most satisfying of all the chiropractic adjustments.

Pediatric Mid-Back adjustment

This is an easy adjustment that Dr. Dorey usually starts with. This is also the first place a scoliosis tends to show up or is most visualized due to the spine’s connection with the ribs.
